When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade!

Here's a new image from Sassy Cheryl.  Sally and Noah are having a lemonade sale, but Bella just drinks up all the profits.  Poor kids and they worked so hard building that beautiful stand.

If you haven't heard by now, Sassy Cheryls closed their challenge blog and moved to Face Book.  They have formed a new group called Sassy Cheryl's Neighborhood.  It has been open about a week now and have already gained almost 30 members.  Cheryl has been giving away prizes, having trivia contests and there is all kinds of fun going on.  If you haven't joined already, head over there now and sign up.  You sure don't want to miss the very special 1st Challenge.  I mean Cheryl is in a generous mood right now and.........
Here's the link.  Hurry, the challenge starts the first of July.

Today I type this post with a sad heart and many sighs.  My first SC Challenge was #11 I have participated in almost every Challenge Sassy Cheryl's since then.  My very first blog post in May of 2010 was a freebie Sassy Cheryl image that is still one of my favorites.  My very first digi purchase was a Sassy Cheryl image.  I guess you would say I am definitely a Sassy Cheryl Addict.  But, all good things have to come to an end and today we sadly announce that this will be the last Challenge for the Sassy Cheryl Challenge Blog. It will be a ONE week challenge .

The GoOd NeWs is:  Sassy Cheryl's will be opening a Fantastically, Sassy, Fun new Facebook Group where we will offer challenges and prizes.  Many crafting friends do not have a blog, nor want to  maintain an active blog but they would like to participate in challenges.   The Sassy Cheryl Facebook Group will open our challenges to more crafters and share Cheryl's creations with a larger audience.  We will continue to be as Sassy as ever (once a Sassy, always a Sassy) so check back on the Challenge Blog page on July 1, 2014 for the announcement of  more details..

Today, Jackie is the hostess and she gave us this sketch to follow.  I used the brand new image in Sassy Cheryl's shop - "Don't Repeat This".  I did make a big boo boo because I used the first image Cheryl drew.  She later updated it and the updated version is the one for sale in her shop.  I could tell you what the difference is, but I am in a "stinker mood" and going to make you pop over there and see how quick you can figure it out.

The sketch is an easy one to follow and works perfect with my image. For this card I used the following recipe.

Coloring Medium - Copics
Image  - Sassy Cheryl's "Don't Repeat This"
Paper - DCWV - Nana's Kids
Gold Border Stickers - Elizabeth Crafts
Monkeys - Brads from my stash.

Please pop over to our Challenge Blog here and check out what my DT Sistahs have created for you.  While you are at it, take a moment to pop over to their blogs and leave them some love.  I really hope you will join us in our final Challenge here in bloggy land and that you will join us in our Sassy Challenges and Shenanigans on our new Facebook Group.

Challenges I plan to enter are:

Is There A Graduate In The House?

Grandchild #3 graduated from High School  and she is having a graduation party on July 5, 2014 to celebrate.  I have been busy making things for her party and I will share those in another post.  The above two cards  are for Kaylee and her best friend Liza.

I decided to just "girly it up" for Kaylee using papers from K & Company, some tulle, lace ribbon and flowers.  I think pearls and girls coming of age just go together.  I know it is "my generation:, but girls used to be given pearls as a "lady" came of age.  Well my little Kaylee is coming of age, so I used plenty of soft pink pearls on her card.  I chose not to incorporate an image this time letting the beauty come from the words in the verse and the paper and embellishments.  I love the vintage feel of this one.

The blue and yellow graduate is an image from Saturated Canary called Grad Girl 2012.  I love Krista's characters.  They have the biggest eyes and funkiest outfits and poses.  She is one of my favorite digi artists and I rely on her stamps often. You can check out Kristas store by clicking here.  I am a member of Kit and Clowder Face Book Page and one of Alyce's students.  You'll see a lot of Krista's images over there colored up with amazing color combos.  The paper I used is from My Mind's Eye.  To make the mortar board inside the card, I stamped on the DP and fussy-cut it out.  The diploma is a piece of white paper rolled up and tied with a yellow cord.

Challenges I want to enter in:

Robyn's Fetish - Graduation Cards
Scribble and Scrap - Anything Goes
Through The Craftroom Door - Anything Goes

Happy Doodle Birthday

It is mid challenge time at Sassy Cheryls and we are still doodling.  This week I chose an oldie of Cheryl's called String of Flowers.  I have always loved this one and used it a bunch.  It has some doodling already in it so it fit right in for this challenge.

I printed the image twice and colored and  cut out 2  bees, 2 purple flowers and 2 large ladybugs.  I popped them up with foam dots to give some dimension to my image.  The shine is from Glossy Accents and the butterfly wings have a bit of Stickles glitter on them.  I doodled the Happy Birthday and tried to make it look like the lines in the button flowers Cheryl had drawn.  I did a bit more doodling here and there on the card and finished it off with some pearls, button and twine from my stash.  The paper is from my scraps and I am not sure where the polka dot paper is from, but the stripe is Graphic 45 Botanical collection.  My card stock is American Crafts.  The butterly punch is EK Success.

Quick and easy.  Lots of fun to color up.  You still have until Monday at 5:00 PM EST to get your doodle masterpiece entered in our challenge.  So grab your pen and a SASSY CHERYL IMAGE and start doodling.  It is fun I promise you,  a real stress reliever.

Charlie Has A New Do

Good Tuesday Morning to you, my little lovlies!  There is a new challenge starting at Sassy Cheryl's today and I am the hostess.  I decided I wanted to challenge ya'll to some doodling.  I have been doing a bit of Zentangling in my Art Journal to relax and I was hoping to introduce you to a bit of relaxing fun.  When I sat down to design my card, I just wasn't feeling the Zentangling so I doodled a bit of lines, dots and a swirl for the butterfly.  Maybe next week I will do a bit of tangling for you.

This little sweetie is called Charlie's New Do and she lives over in Sassy Cheryl's shop with the rest of her friends.  Cheryl did a You Tube tutorial on how to color faces with glasses.  I took the tutorial and then practiced what I learned.  It was pretty simple and Cheryl is the most marvelous colored pencil artist.  I did add a bit of Glossy Accents on the glasses that Cheryl didn't demonstrate.

I colored my image with Faber Castell Polychromo Pencils.  I absolutely love them.  I used Copic Express It Blending card and the colors went down so smooth and easily blended with Gamasol.  I sponged the sky with a daubber and blue ink.  The butterflies are cut from some  DP in my stash as are the flowers and ribbon.  The DP is from Graphic 45's Botanical Collection.  The Octagon Dies are from Lifestyles Dies and the sentiment and punches from Stampin Up.

My Design Teammates have created some beautiful cards this week.  They have really stepped up the doodling.  It is always fun and exciting for me to see their creations.  I make sure to pop over to each of their blogs every week and leave them a little love.  I invite you to do the same.  They work so hard to make interesting and awesome cards to inspire you, so leave them a bit of love and encouragement.

Whatever you are up to this week, I hope there will be some Sassy Cheryl crafting time in it and you share your creation on our Challenge Blog.  You just may be the lucky winner of a free trip to Sassy Cheryl's store.  See You There!
